Peony prisons (aka protective cages to keep the voles out). Rookie move. When I decided to buy some bareroot peonies I only googled to find out if deer eat them. When the results said most of the time no I bought three varieties 😊 Then it dawned on me that voles and rabbits might eat them 🤔 So I googled again and yes, voles would be a threat. And we have them. So I bought hardware cloth and made these wire bottomed cages that are now buried a foot into the soil with a foot extending above ground because voles are mad dashers running across the yard and meadow at incredible speeds but they don’t like to climb. I had some bloodwork done recently. My LDL cholesterol dropped from 149 mg/dL to 63 mg/dL since changing my diet and lifestyle to macrobiotics. My B12 also dropped 😬 It’s still in an acceptable range but I’ve begun using a supplement because I don’t want it going any lower. It went from 491 pg/mL to 340 pg/mL in the past 7 months so it was time to take action. If it dropped the same amount in the next 7 months it would compromise my brain health among other things. And my brain needs all the health it can get to get rid of the suspected thalamic gliomas and to keep the trigeminal neuralgia at bay. Last night’s dinner was delicious. I’d never cooked Brussels sprouts nishime-style before. My tiny turtle really perked up when it realized it was near the lake. I set it down a few feet from the water’s edge beneath some shrubbery for cover. The thought of any turtle trying to cross the road where cars whiz by at 50+ mph is always upsetting to me.
